Guide
Stripe Atlas Alternatives for Non-US Founders
Quick answer
Stripe Atlas is $500 once and $100 annually after the first year, and the renewal charges automatically.[1] That is the cheapest renewal price of anything in this comparison. Before you look at alternatives, it is worth being clear about how good that is.
What Atlas actually costs and includes
The Stripe Atlas fee covers Delaware incorporation with next-day expedited processing and the state filing fees, a company tax ID, founder equity issuance, the 83(b) election filing, document templates and $2,500 in Stripe credits for the first year.[2] Access to partner discounts comes with it as well. That is a lot for a one-time fee, and the renewal is genuinely low.
The number the $100 does not cover
Atlas incorporates in Delaware, and Delaware charges its own annual tax on top:
Every domestic and foreign Delaware LLC owes a flat $400 annual tax, due on or before June 1, and files no annual report.[3] So your real year-two cost is the Atlas renewal plus the Delaware tax, which together come to roughly what the first year cost. That is still competitive, and it is not the renewal figure on its own. A comparison that puts Atlas's renewal next to a Wyoming-based competitor's annual fee without adding each state's tax is comparing two different things.
Where Atlas genuinely wins
You are raising US venture capital. Atlas is built for it. Founder equity issuance, share purchase and 83(b) election filing are in the base price, and those are the things a Delaware C corporation actually needs. No other option here includes them.
You want the lowest ongoing product cost. The Atlas renewal is the lowest in this comparison and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
You are already building on Stripe. The Stripe credits against the fee are a material offset if you will use them.
You want next-day formation. Expedited processing is included rather than an add-on.
Where Atlas is the wrong buy
You are a bootstrapped single-member LLC. Equity issuance and 83(b) filing are not things you need, and Delaware's annual tax is several hundred dollars more than Wyoming's every year. Over five years that difference is real money for features you will not use.
You want the ongoing operating work handled. Atlas forms the company well. The eleven months after formation are not what it is for, and Form 5472, the annual report, bookkeeping and banking routing are yours.
You want your Form 5472 filed. Not included by Atlas.
Firstbase prices tax filing for a non-US-owned single-member LLC at $899 annually per package.[4] That is the honest comparison point if the filing is what you want.
One thing we will not claim
A widely repeated line holds that Stripe Atlas states it cannot guarantee Stripe payments approval, and that formation and payments are separate decisions.
We looked for that statement on Atlas's own page on September 1, 2026 and did not find it. What the page does say is that "Stripe Atlas is a technology service providing legal information and access to self-serve tools." The underlying point remains true and is well supported elsewhere: Stripe's payments eligibility is decided against Stripe's own requirements, and forming through Atlas does not pre-clear it. But we are not going to attribute a quote to Stripe that we could not find on Stripe's page.
The alternatives, with what each is for
| Price | Best for | |
|---|---|---|
| Stripe Atlas | $500 once, $100/year | Delaware C corporation, US venture path, lowest renewal |
| Firstbase Start | $99 once, agent $299/year | Cheapest first-year formation; unbundled afterward |
| doola Starter | $297/year | Lowest all-in recurring price |
| Prolify Starter | $397/year | Formation plus the operating layer |
| Prolify Growth | $1,497/year | Compliance workflows, banking routing, bookkeeping coordination |
| All prices exclude state fees. |
Where Prolify fits
If you want the company formed and nothing else, Atlas or Firstbase is a better purchase and we would rather you bought one of those than paid us for work you do not need. We are worth considering when the ongoing operation is the problem: the annual filing whose penalty is set out on the Form 5472 page, the state deadline that dissolves companies within months, the bank application that turns on which list your country is on. That is what Growth is for.
