For newsletter and media operators

A US entity for a newsletter business. The specialized tooling is not built yet.

If you run a paid newsletter from outside the US, Prolify forms the US company and runs its filings today. The newsletter-specific tooling is still being built, so this page sets out what is available now.

What works for you today. All of it, right now, without a special plan.

  • Formation of the US entity, with an EIN obtained on the non-SSN track.
  • A registered agent and a US business address that satisfy the state and the IRS.
  • Bookkeeping set up with the categories a foreign-owned entity needs, including the owner transfers that turn out to be reportable.
  • The federal and state filing calendar tracked against your entity.
  • Connections for the processors newsletter businesses actually use, so revenue reconciles rather than arriving as one lump.

Formation is filed in Delaware, Wyoming, New Mexico, Florida, from $397for the first year plus the state’s own filing fee. Full pricing at /pricing.

What is not built. So you know before you buy, not after.

  • Anything newsletter-specific. No Substack, beehiiv or ConvertKit integration, no subscriber-revenue reporting, no churn analytics.
  • Sales-tax handling for digital subscriptions, which varies by state and by what exactly you are selling.
  • Tax planning or optimization of any kind.

The question worth asking a professional first

Paid subscription revenue from US readers raises the question of whether your income is effectively connected with a US trade or business, which decides whether you owe US tax rather than merely filing. That determination depends on where the writing happens and how the business is run, and it belongs to a licensed preparer. Prolify tracks what you file. It does not decide what you owe.

Questions people ask. Answered in the open.

Do I need a US company to run a paid newsletter?

Often not. If your readers pay through a platform that already handles payouts to your country, a US entity may add filings without adding much else. It becomes worth it when a processor gates on entity country, when you want to contract with US advertisers directly, or when you are raising money.

Is there a discount or a plan for creators?

No. Formation starts at $397 for the first year plus the state's filing fee, the same as for anyone else. A creator-specific plan would be a marketing label on identical work.
